And the Waltz goes on
`The Waltz must go on´, was a dream of the nineteen-year-old Sir Anthony Hopkins, when he’d written a waltz. And now André Rieu makes his dream come true. In Vienna André performs his piece for the first time; the worldpremière of ‘And the Waltz goes on’! Now finally available on CD! André’s new album presents waltzes from around the world – a sad waltz “Valse Triste” from Finland, a miniature waltz “La petite Valse” from France, a popular waltz tune that began life in Germany, and then reaching across continents we go all the way to New Zealand. When in New Zealand on tour in 2011, inspired by its stunning landscape, heartbroken by the natural disasters that has beset it in recent times, elevated by the indomitable ‘life must go on’ attitude of its people, André penned another waltz, a dreamlike waltz, like mountains seen through the mist; “Dreaming Of New Zealand” was the only title it could have. You can hear it on this album both, as a song without words and an alternative version with words, dovetailing both English and Maori texts. And who better to lend it that absolute unblemished purity of voice and vision than New Zealand’s own star, Hayley Westenra.
