Magic of the Waltz
I was only five years old, when I heard a waltz for the first time. It was Johann Strauss’ “The beautiful Blue Danube”. My father, who was conductor of the Limburg Symphony Orchestra, played it as an encore in one of his concerts. Suddenly the atmosphere changed. Everyone in the audience started to smile. I saw the joy on people’s faces. Even as a small boy I understood that this wonderful music had the power to make people happy – that it was magical. Every night, everywhere in the world I invite my audience to get up from their seats and dance with us. I can’t tell you how fantastic it is to see people from every continent waltz to our music, whether they’d be young or old. You will find every sentiment in a waltz. Happiness, joy, melancholy, and love. And last but not least, do you know that it is scientifically proven that waltzing is good for your health? So a waltz a day keeps the doctor away! Isn’t that magical?
